Vietnam e‑Visa Entry Points

The port selected in the application should be permitted for e‑Visa use and match the traveller’s actual route into and out of Vietnam.

The entry point is a visa detail—not a casual placeholder

Travellers sometimes choose a well-known airport before checking their flight, or enter the Indian departure city instead of the Vietnamese border point. The application should use the permitted Vietnamese airport, landport or seaport that fits the journey.

The Vietnam Immigration Department publishes an official list of ports available to e‑Visa holders. Published lists have included major international airports such as Noi Bai in Hanoi, Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Cam Ranh, Cat Bi, Can Tho, Phu Bai and Phu Quoc, as well as specified land borders and seaports.

Do not treat this page as the final operational list. Check current official information while applying and before departure, especially if an airline, connection or border crossing changes.

Read the issued document, not only the draft itinerary

After issuance, compare the visa’s ports and entry terms with the final route. A booking change does not automatically change the visa.

Three port groups

Identify how the traveller will cross the Vietnamese border

Each group contains specifically permitted locations. The current official list controls—not the category name alone.

International airports

Common for travellers flying from India through direct or connecting services.

  • Confirm the Vietnamese arrival airport
  • Check any domestic transfer separately
  • Review a changed airline itinerary

Land border gates

Relevant for regional itineraries entering or leaving Vietnam overland.

  • Use the exact official border name
  • Check that it is permitted for e‑Visa use
  • Plan transport and operating details

International seaports

Relevant to certain cruise and maritime arrivals or departures.

  • Confirm the vessel’s actual port call
  • Match the official port name
  • Recheck itinerary changes before travel

Entry-point questions

Vietnam e‑Visa port FAQs

Can I enter Vietnam through any airport with an e‑Visa?

Use only an entry point permitted for the current electronic visa route and consistent with the terms shown on the issued visa. Check the current official list before applying and again before travel.

What if my flight changes to a different Vietnam airport?

Do not assume a different airport is acceptable. Compare the new route with the issued visa and current official rules, then follow the appropriate official guidance before travelling.

Is my Indian departure airport the e‑Visa entry point?

No. The e‑Visa entry point refers to the permitted Vietnamese airport, land border gate or seaport through which the traveller intends to enter Vietnam.

Can I enter by air and leave by land?

This may depend on the selected and issued terms and whether both points are currently permitted for e‑Visa use. The application and issued document should reflect the real route.

Why should I verify the official list again before travel?

Approved points and operational arrangements can change. Current government and carrier instructions are more reliable than an old blog, screenshot or saved checklist.
